You should double the recipe and if it doesnt all fit in the 12x18, you can put the excess in a smaller round pan!

Definitely an old St. Louis recipe. I am 57 and learned to make this as a child growing up in St. Louis. Same exact recipe. It is very good and I bring it to many potlucks and get so many compliments! Always give credit where credit is due, as previous reviewer noted 🙂 Adding honey sounds interesting and I may need to try that!

In the video Paula puts in 2 cups powder sugar (which is 8 oz), half the amount the recipe shows. Which is correct? 2 cups or 4 cups?

I just wasted my night baking this cake. The directions say to use an 8×8 pan. My cake did not bake AT ALL. This was so doggone frustrating and for the instructions to not properly instruct is beyond frustrating! Then, Paula Deen herself uses a way longer pan in her video than what her own box says!
